Children are welcome to sit in church with their families or participate in Sunday School following “Time With Children.” Nursery care is available for infants and toddlers during the entire church service.
How do I rent the church facilities?
Make an inquiry by using the Contact tab on this website or you can call or email the Minister. You will ultimately be contacted by a member of the Board of Trustees who can get you all the information you need.
Who do I contact to schedule a wedding or special event?
Contact the minister (see below) or go to the Contact Tab on the website and leave a message. Reserving a rooms or space in the church will also involve the Board of Trustees who may be involved in the fees for use and the scheduling for availability.
What does opening and affirming mean?
Being Open and Affirming is a public commitment of our acknowledgment and full acceptance of any who so choose, to become a part of the body of Christ. We welcome and invite all persons of every race, age, gender, gender expression and gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, culture, physical ability, mental capacity or economic condition, to become full and equal participants in the life of this body of Christ.
CAN ANYONE COME TO CHURCH? DO I NEED TO BECOME A MEMBER?
You do not need to become a member to come to this church. In practice, there is very little difference between becoming a formal member and not. The main difference is in the opportunity to vote on issues that are brought before the congregation. We welcome all to come enjoy and participate in the services and activities of the church at whatever level of commitment you feel comfortable. There is no test, requirement or obligation.
HOW DO I ACCESS CHURCH RECORDS?
At this point in time we do not have easy way to access church records. We are striving to improve access, and hope to better inventory our records, to digitize them and to eventually have them available through our website. Right now you will need to contact the Clerk or the Church Historian and discuss your particular needs or request. Visit the Contact tab on the website to speak or email with either person.
Where can I learn more about the history of the church?
Nursery care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers is available year round. For children grades K-8, we offer religious education classes or Sunday School during the church service September-June. During the summer months, we offer new activities each week based on different themes such as cooking, arts & crafts, science, and game days. Confirmation classes are available for teens who are interested in becoming members of the church.
Do YOU HAVE A MUSIC PROGRAM?
Music is a big part of the church. The Sunday service involves singing by the congregation, choir singing, solo singing, bell ringing and various instrumental soloist and accompanists. We have a Director of Music (official title is Minister of Music) who directs and coordinates all the music offerings of the church and is also an accomplished musician on the piano and organ (among other instruments). Whether you like to sit and listen or want to sing or play and instrument, you can find your niche here at First Congregational.
