Our Chicken Barbecue was the first church supper we have served since February 2020 - 19 months ago! It was good to get back to work together. The BBQ is an important fundraiser, no doubt, but it is also a chance for us to come together - the workers and all of you who stopped by to pick up dinners.
We thank Rockridge Retirement Community in Northampton for their very generous sponsorship. Our thanks go out to Szawloski Potatoes for the donation of all the - you guessed it - baked potatoes we served. We also appreciate the donation of all the prepared squash that Michael Zigmont donated. And we don't want to forget Jimmy Tarr who stayed with us throughout the day as our Serve Safe officer. And we could not have sold one dinner never mind 250 without all of the volunteer help of our church members, with special mention of Amy Novak who chaired the BBQ. You all did a great job! The BBQ sold out at 250, which was great, but we did unfortunately need to turn some people away. In October, we will start advertising our Roast Pork Dinner. Due to the COVID restrictions, this will also be a to-go only dinner. It will take place on November 13th from 5 - 7:00pm. Check this page, or our FB page, or the sign in front of the church for how to order tickets. There is a good chance we may sell out again so please don't wait to get those tickets. Labor Day is the unofficial end of summer. Today is the first day after Labor Day. So we're getting ready for Homecoming Sunday, which we will observe on September 12th.
The ongoing pandemic has changed our lives. We have fallen out of routines. We know that some people have fallen out of the habit of attending Sunday worship. We would love to invite you back to church, whether in person or online - it's all part of the same community. If you'd like to join us by Zoom, send me a FB message or an email ([email protected]), and I'll get you the login link. We also know that there are busier weekend plans during the summer. The weather calls us to travel and enjoy the outdoors. Now that Labor Day is in the rearview mirror we invite you to spend part of your weekend with us as church. The Service will be briefer this Sunday so that we can enjoy more time together as a community catching up with old friends and saying "Hello" to new ones at an outdoor continental breakfast. Please know that whoever you are, old friend or new to the area, seeker, believer, questioning, single or a family of eight, young or old, however you choose to love, however you choose to vote, whether you dress up for church or come in your favorite tee-shirt and shorts, please know that you are welcome here and we would love to see you at Homecoming.
